Accelerator for Success Lesson #2: Clarity into Power

Lesson # 2:  Clarity into Power Desire/Decision

Two reasons that most people “fail” are 1) they have no clear idea of where they want to go, and 2) they never truly convert their “Dream” into a “Goal” by giving themselves a time frame.

That ends for you now.

In the Dream Bar Cafe, preparation is the first key to success. If you are planning on going on a vacation, do you just get in your car, and drive with no clear idea of where you are going? Granted that can be quite an adventure, but if you were looking to enjoy specific attractions, if you had specific outcomes that you wanted to experience along the journey… you would need some sort of plan. Even before you begin planning, you need a clear idea of your destination. You would ask yourself, “Ultimately, where do I want to end up?“ Then you would create a very clear vision of your destination and what you wanted to experience when you get there. Yes, some things may change when you arrive, but before you started determining “how” you were going to get there, you would want a very clear idea of where you were going.

ACTION STEP: DECIDE

The next thing you would do in planning a vacation is determine when you want to go. How could you ever get to your destination without having a specific date that you plan to arrive. You would set a time frame that would allow you to do all the preparations that would allow you to arrive at your destination. You would need to schedule time off from work, save the appropriate amount of money, make travel arrangements such as flights or hotels. I know this all may seem simplistic, and sadly, more people put detailed planning into their vacations, than they do their goals.

The first step of the Dream Bar Cafe is to get crystal clear on your outcome and put a time frame on it. If you don’t have one, I suggest that you create a journal for yourself. It can be a simple ring binder, a folder on your computer, or you may want to purchase a book specifically for keeping a record of your journey. A journal will allow you to keep track of your progress and give you a better opportunity for reviewing what has worked, and what may need improved.

Decide right now what you want to accomplish in the next 20 days, and write it down. Enter it into your journal. Be specific about the outcome you desire. The more clarity you have, the more certain you can be that you will achieve it. What does achieving your goal look like? Find pictures that represent your goal. Cut them out of magazines or save them into a specific folder on your computer of images you find online. What sounds do you associate to achieving your goal? Is there music that will inspire you? What will you say to yourself when you have achieved it? How will achieving this goal make you feel? Write all of this down so you can come back from time to time and remain clear as to what you want.

After you are done, sit back for a moment, close your eyes, and imagine yourself having accomplished your goal. See yourself already having achieved the outcome. Hear the sounds you associate to your goal. And feel what it feels like to have achieved it! Focus on that clear vision for 3-5 minutes.

Now… commit to the time frame you have put on it. When are you going to absolutely have achieved this goal? Where will you be in the process 20 days from now? Will it be done? Or is there a milestone you want to reach in 20 days that will let you know you are on track? Until you put a time frame on this… it’s just another dream. But a dream with a date… is a goal you will achieve! Put the date in your journal, and let’s get started!
